MFFG Meeting – Reserved Matters Consultation – WEDS 6th NOV, 7.30pm at Stockport Georgians SK2 7DT

Dear Resident,
We know a lot of you will have been following the progress of the forthcoming development which is proposed to be built on part of Mirrlees Fields, it has certainly been a contentious issue which has provoked strong and differing feelings across the community.
Those of you who live close to the fields will have received mail last week asking for your views on a number of matters concerning the development.
Kellen Homes are keen to work with the community to submit a reserved matters application that reflects the wishes of the community.

The Friends Group Committee met on Friday 1st Nov with representatives from Kellen Homes (the builders), the Land Trust (who will be managing the new public open space), the Protect Mirrlees Fields from development group, and Dominic Hardwick, one of our local Councillors.
We have been able to study the most recent plans and compare them to the original proposal, and have drawn up a list of changes and suggestions that we would like incorporated into the final design before the reserved matters application is submitted. These include things like the proportion of affordable homes being delivered, the final boundary, the route of the emergency access road onto Flowery Fields, and what the paths, gates and fences should look like.

Full details are available in our Facebook group where we are now asking members for their views, we hope that active discussion and sharing of ideas will help residents fill out the online consultation in a meaningful way.
Whilst we cannot change the fact that part of Mirrlees Fields must be given over to housing, we can work together to shape the development so that it is in keeping with the wishes and needs of the community, and that with the nurturing of the Land Trust, that the open space is a well maintained but still natural area for the community to enjoy in perpetuity.

We would like to invite you to an informal meeting this WEDNESDAY 6th NOVEMBER 7.15 for 7.30pm at Stockport Georgians Cricket Club to discuss the proposals, details are attached to this message HERE.

No matter your past allegiances, we warmly invite all nearby residents who will be affected, and users of Mirrlees Fields to join us and help shape the future, so please pass this message on to anyone who may not have seen the Facebook announcement.

Sorry for the short notice, but as the consultation is open until 11th November we wanted to share our knowledge with the community quickly. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday evening.
The consultation website is at www.mirrleesfields-consultation.co.uk
Kind regards,

The MFFG Committee.
